A joint team of Mianwali and Islamabad Police raided the residence of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, in Islamabad on Sunday to arrest him in an anti-terrorism case.
Ayub confirmed in a post on X that arrest warrants had been issued and criticized the authorities for their “desperation” to apprehend him.
“Bailable arrest warrants were issued for me by ATC Sargodha, but Mianwali Police and Islamabad Police teams came to my Islamabad house to arrest me a few minutes ago,” Ayub stated in the post. Despite the raid on his F-10 residence, the PTI leader was not present, and no arrest was made.
Ayub is wanted in connection with an anti-terrorism case, with an anti-terrorism court in Sargodha having issued the warrants for his arrest. The police continue to search for the opposition leader, who is sought for his alleged involvement in activities classified under anti-terrorism laws.
