Pakistani actress Sarwat Gilani opened up about her struggle with postpartum depression, revealing that she once contemplated harming her newborn baby.
In an interview on a private channel’s morning program, the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani actress shared that while she did not experience postpartum depression after the birth of her first two sons, she faced severe challenges following the birth of her daughter in December 2023.
“When a woman is pregnant for the first time, she lacks specific information about pregnancy and seeks knowledge through books and social media,” explained the Joyland star.

Reflecting on her first pregnancy and the lack of information available, Sarwat stressed the psychological difficulties women face and their reliance on external resources for support. She underscored the importance of family support during pregnancy and credited her husband’s understanding and reassurance about postpartum depression for helping her through a difficult period.
“It’s crucial for everyone to understand this condition,” Sarwat emphasized, calling for greater awareness of postpartum depression among both men and women.
