Despite the severe hot weather conditions, the public and unannounced load shedding by the electricity company continues to plague the city. In several areas, including Defence, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulberg, Malir, M.A. Jinnah Road, North Karachi, Orangi Town, and Nazimabad, prolonged electricity outages lasting 12 to 14 hours persist.
Heatwaves amplify many risks, such as health-related or economic risks, including increased human mortality, drought and water quality, wildfire and smoke, power shortages and agricultural losses.
