Two children lost their lives and seven others were injured on Wednesday when a fire broke out in a house in Faisalabad due to a laptop explosion.
Dr. Hammad Ahmed from Allied Hospital’s emergency department reported that nine injured individuals, including two women and five children aged three to nine, were brought to the hospital by rescue services with “serious burns.”
Later, a girl and a boy succumbed to their injuries, Dr. Ahmed was quoted as saying in Dawn.com. Rescue 1122 stated that the fire started when a laptop that was plugged in for charging exploded.
Although officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the explosion, faulty lithium-ion batteries in laptops and mobile phones can overheat and catch fire, sometimes resulting in explosions.
According to a list of injured persons released by the rescue service, the victims ranged in age from three to 45 years. The deceased were a six-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy.
