The Sindh government has launched an ambitious ‘Floating Solar Power’ project at Keenjhar Lake, located approximately 36 kilometers from Thatta City.
Led by Sindh’s Department of Energy, this innovative project represents a major stride toward sustainable energy solutions in the region. An agreement has been inked with Go Energy Pvt Ltd to commence the Floating Solar Power project, slated for completion within two years.
Once operational, the project is projected to generate 500 Mega Watts of electricity, supplying it to K-Electric through the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC) network.
This initiative is poised to transform the energy landscape in Sindh, bolstering the province’s power supply significantly. During the signing ceremony, Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah underscored the potential benefits of the project for power consumers in the province.
He reiterated the Sindh government’s dedication to tackling energy shortages and enhancing the overall power infrastructure. Shah also urged the federal government to ensure a sufficient gas supply to alleviate the ongoing energy deficits in urban areas.
