Since the release of the Heeramandi series, Aditi Rao Hydari has received so much praise for her Gajagamini walk in one of the songs which has become a trend in no time.
For those who are unaware, in the series, Aditi plays the character of a courtesan named Bibbojaan. She does a Gajagamini walk during one of her songs which has become the talk of the town and it was highly appreciated.
What is Gaja Gamini Walk?
The walk finds its origins in Indian classical dance forms where it represents strength and raw sexual power. The walk is inspired by the majestic gait of a female elephant.
Swaying of the hips along with slight movement of the torso is considered the epitome of sheer elegance in the dance form.
Moreover, the ‘Gaja Gamini’ walk is also mentioned in the Mahabharata. Queens like Draupadi were addressed as Mada-Gaja-Gamini, women who walked like cow elephants in a rut. In simpler words, the walk is synonymous with a large voluptuous but graceful woman.
About Heeramandi

The narrative revolves around the power tussle between the courtesans of Heera Mandi, Nawabs, and British officers. The series was criticized for its portrayal of the pre-independence period, which many found to be historically inaccurate.
