From ‘Shaitaan’ to ‘Yodha’: New releases to watch this weekend

With the fresh start of the month of May, many OTTs have released amazing titles including movies and series this week.

Here is a list of several movies and web series that were released this week on different OTTs such as Amazon Prime and Netflix which you can certainly enjoy this weekend:

1) Shaitaan (Netflix)

Supernatural thriller Shaitaan which stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and R Madhavan will release on Netflix this week.

Directed by Vikas Bahl, it is the Hindi remake of the 2023 Gujarati horror film Vash. It was written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik.

2) Manjummel Boys (Netflix)

The Malayalam survival thriller revolves around a group of friends from a small town called Manjummel near Kochi, who decide to have a vacation in Kodaikanal.

3) The Idea of You (Amazon Prime Video)

The Idea of You was released on Prime Video on May 2. The movie follows a love affair between a divorced mother, Solène, and the lead singer of the hottest boyband on the planet, Hayes Campbell.

Solène takes her daughter to the Coachella Music Festival and ends up falling for an international pop star, resulting in a whirlwind romance.

4) Heeramandi (Netflix)

Set against the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s, the project promises to be an epic saga of love, power, revenge, and freedom.

Heeramandi was released on May 1 on Netflix. The show stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Adhyayan Suman, Sharmin Segal and Taha Shah Badussha. Sanjay Leela Bhansali marks his web series debut with Heeramandi.

5) Yodha (Amazon Prime Video)

Yodha features Sidharth Malhotra in the leading role. After terrorists hijack a passenger plane, an off-duty soldier aboard devises a strategy to defeat the hijackers and ensure the passengers’ survival when the engine fails.

6) The Atypical Family (Netflix)

The 12-episode web series will release on May 4 on Netflix. It stars Jang Ki Yong, Chun Woo Hee, Go Doo Shim and Claudia Kim.

The official description of the drama on Netflix reads, “Once blessed with unique superpowers, a family loses their abilities due to modern-day problems — until a mysterious woman changes everything.”
