RAWALPINDI: Pakistani security forces eliminated eight militants “actively involved in terrorist activities” in the country’s northwestern district, the Army’s media wing said Saturday.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said armed forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan District on the reported presence of insurgents. Own troops and militants engaged in an intense exchange of gunfire during the operation, resulting in the deaths of eight terrorists.
The deceased terrorists had been actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and in the targeted killing of innocent civilians. ISPR stated that weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists.
Locals in the area commended the operation. A sanitization operation was conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, as security forces are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.
In recent months, terrorist attacks on security forces have once again surged in the country, resulting in the martyrdom of many security personnel.
