WhatsApp has introduced new features for Channels to engage with their followers, with the most significant being voice updates. Channel administrators and owners, including celebrities, now have the capability to send voice messages to their groups.
The initial trial of this feature was conducted by Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, and it is now being widely rolled out. Voice updates stand out as one of WhatsApp’s most popular features, offering users the convenience of sending messages without typing, particularly useful while driving or multitasking. Evidently, the app records a staggering 7 billion voice messages daily, making it an obvious choice for Meta to extend this feature to Channels.
Apart from voice updates, administrators can now facilitate interactive polls within the chat for their followers to participate in.
Furthermore, WhatsApp has increased the number of administrators Channels can have to 16, ensuring that followers stay well-informed about the latest developments. Fans, on the other hand, gain the ability to share Channel updates as their Status, akin to Instagram Stories on the messaging service. Given that voice notes can be shared as WhatsApp Status, it implies that users can also share Channel voice updates. All these enhancements are being gradually introduced to WhatsApp users worldwide.
