The initial installment of Season 6 of “The Crown” has finally made its way to Netflix, ushering viewers into a new chapter of the Royal Family’s reign set in the ’90s.
While much attention is given to Elizabeth Debicki’s portrayal of Princess Diana in her final days, the show also introduces another notable Royal—Kate Middleton, the current Princess of Wales—during her student days. The dramatized depiction of the meet-cute between a young Prince William and Middleton at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland in 2001 takes center stage in this season.
Taking on the role of the iconic Duchess of Cambridge is newcomer Meg Bellamy. Her journey to “The Crown” was unconventional. Formerly a drama student and Head Girl at St. Crispin’s School in Wokingham, Berkshire, where she graduated with an A* grade, Bellamy noticed an open casting call for the series on social media. Taking the initiative, she submitted a self-taped audition, impressing the casting team, who offered her the role shortly after she left higher education.
At the age of 19 when the news broke in September 2022, “The Crown” became Bellamy’s first major professional role. She shared her excitement on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to portray Kate Middleton and join the incredible cast and crew.

In Season 6, Bellamy will act alongside fellow newcomer Ed McVey, who plays Prince William during his student years, and later as a 16-year-old portrayed by Rufus Kampa.
Bellamy’s engagement with fans mostly occurs through her social media channels, where she showcases her enthusiasm for fashion, attending various events and launches. She expressed her excitement about the series’ impending arrival and shared a poster, revealing that her portrayal of Kate will feature in the second batch of episodes released on Thursday, December 14.
