ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was still his leader and if he was not a president, he would have been in jail.
The president made new revelations in a recent interview with well-known journalist Hamid Mir and said about the disappearance of PTI leaders that the caretaker governments are doing such activities, and people were being picked up.
During the interview, the president said that the faith of the raised people has changed. It shouldn’t be if I wasn’t in the presidency. “I would be in jail. This has not reduced the popularity of Imran Khan, rather it is increasing,” he asserted.

Referring to the verses of the Holy Quran, the President said, “This is the time to unite the country, we have to work diligently. Nations are built with patience. Nawaz Sharif while speaking at Minar-e-Pakistan asked everyone to work together.”
Arif Alvi said that in the Gallup survey, there was a question whether Nawaz Sharif should take Imran Khan along with him. So 70% of people answered positively. “The people gave this narrative to the PML-G that they should take everyone together,” Alvi noted.
Dr Alvi said that if he had not gone for Hajj, the amendment in the Election Act 2017 would not have been signed. “I am not sure that the elections will be held in the last week of January. I hope that the Supreme Court election will not be delayed further,” he said.
He said that everyone talks about a level playing field, few people say it. The future of the country requires clean, transparent, and credible elections in which everyone can participate. “I condemned the events of May 9, I am not in favor of vandalism,” he added.
“Personally, I have seen Chairman PTI as patriotic and honest in financial matters. Me and Imran Khan have been together for 27 years, Imran Khan still has his eyes on me. Even now the chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf is my leader,” he said.
