Former Indian cricket team captain, Sourav Ganguly, made an interesting claim about the Pakistan cricket team following their seven-wicket loss against India in Ahmedabad on October 14.
Ganguly, 51, believes that Babar Azam-led Pakistan doesn’t have the ability to handle pressure.Â
Talking to Times Now, Ganguly stated that Pakistan’s batting doesn’t have the required temperament as compared to the old Pakistan side.
“During our time Pakistan was a different team, this is not the type of Pakistan team we used to play. This team can’t handle the pressure during the batting. It will be hard for Pakistan to come back in this World Cup with this batting,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly’s remarks came after Pakistan, despite a great start as they were 155-2 in 29 overs, collapsed badly and were restricted to 191 runs against India.
With the exception of Babar Azam (50), Mohammad Rizwan (49), Imam-ul-Haq (36), and Abdullah Shafique (20), none of the batters showed any significant resistance with the bat as the entire side returned to the pavilion for just 191 runs.
Pakistan’s middle-order consisting of Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, and Shadab Khan failed to score in double digits.
The home side comfortably chased down the 192-run target with 118 balls to spare in the 31st over courtesy of a dominant batting display by their skipper Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer.
Sharma, who scored 140 runs against Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup, showcased his batting skills once again and top-scored for the winning side with 86 off 63 balls. His rapid knock included 12 boundaries while Iyer scored 48 off 60 balls.
India recorded their eighth consecutive win against Pakistan in the World Cup history.
