LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday barred Khawar Maneka, the former husband of Bushra Bibi, from flying to Dubai.
Khawar Maneka was flying to Dubai via a flight of foreign airlines. He arrived at Allama Iqbal International airport but was stopped from boarding as his name was placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Maneka is facing a corruption case filed by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment. was handed over to the anti-corruption team at Lahore Airport and was taken into custody.
Maneka was arrested on charges of carrying out illegal construction on state land. He is alleged to have constructed a marriage hall on the land of a graveyard. The anti-corruption officials said Maneka was attempting to flee from the country to Dubai.
ACE spokesperson issued a statement and said that Khawar Farid Maneka has been arrested on the charge of illegal construction on government land.
The Deputy Commissioner is conducting an inquiry on the reference against against Maneka, who has reportedly built an illegal marriage hall on the graveyard site
ACE said Khawar Maneka also constructed 26 illegal shops on the graveyard land The marriage hall was built on 4 kanal land of cemetery without approved map.
The spokersperson said Khawar Fareed Maneka has been illegally occupying the land of Pir Islam Graveyard Haveli Lakha for a long time.
ACE claimed that Khawar Farid was trying to escape from the country but the authorities foiled the attempt and arrested him
Maneka is a senior official of the Customs department, belonging to Pakpattan, and is a spiritual devotee of the 13th-century mystic Baba Farid Ganj Shakkar.
Khawar’s father Ghulam Muhammad Maneka was a politician and also served as a federal minister under Benazir Bhutto. Ghulam Muhammad Maneka passed away in 2011.
