ISLAMABAD: Outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the nation tonight (Sunday) on his final day in office.
The prime minister will discuss the 16-month performance of the coalition government. will also thank the coalition parties for their cooperation.
He will also discuss issues related to the country’s economic and political situation and will shed light on initiatives related to foreign affairs, investment and energy sector.
The prime minister’s guard of honor ceremony scheduled today has been postponed and will be given on August 14 (tomorrow).Â
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Anwarul Haq Kakar on becoming the caretaker prime minister.
In a statement, the prime minister welcomed the nomination of the interim prime minister from Balochistan.
He said the constitutional procedure was followed and a good name was agreed upon. He thanked Leader of Opposition Raja Riaz who helped in the consultative process.Â
“Anwar Haq Kakar is an educated and patriotic person. The trust in the name of Anwarul Haq Kakar by all the parties is a sign of our right choice,” he added.
He hoped the incoming prime minister will ensure conducting free, transparent, and impartial elections in the country.
In the past 16 months, we have worked hard day and night to bring the country to economic stability, we hope it will continue, the prime minister.
He said ensuring continuity of development, construction and economic improvement is essential for the betterment of Pakistan and its people.
He hoped that the caretaker prime minister and his cabinet will fulfill the expectations of the people and the constitution.
