RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Saturday said Pakistan would see prosperity if people took courageous decision in elections to eliminate the “politics of lies and hypocrisy”.
Taking to Twitter, the former interior minister paid tribute to the martyr of Karbala as Ashura, the tenth of Muharram, is being observed today (July 29), saying they sacrificed their lives but did not bow before the tyrants.
He said sacrifices were rendered by those who are pure in their heart as selfish people used to surrender in no time. Hitting out at the government, he said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was making marathon inauguration despite the fact that people were running out of money to buy basic commodities and pay school fees for children.
Mr Ahmed said the government could not make the public fool by inaugurating the projects as the current rulers were left with few days in power. He said electricity prices were being increased by those who avail it free of cost.
He lamented that poor people were thrown behind the bars while influential run their business and politics from jail, adding that only those who held the resources could make it to the assemblies in the country.
