KARACHI: A massive fire that erupted at a plastic factory in SITE area near Super Highway on Monday morning has been brought under control after hectic efforts for more than 12 hours.
Rescue 1122 station in-charge confirmed late evening that the fire has been brought under control and the cooling process, On Tuesday morning, Fire Officer Abrar Shaikh said fire has almost been brought under control and the cooling process is going on which would still take several hours.
He said 15 vehicles of the fire brigade participated in extinguishing the fire during the day and night, while water was supplied by more than 35 tankers of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board.
The fire officer said the building has been damaged due to which it is not possible to enter inside the factory. He said smoke fumes were still rising due to presence of plastic and excessive goods.
He informed the fire fighters were injured during the firefighting operation and were given medical aid. He said the causes for the fire will be revealed after the cooling process is over and the factory is examined.
The factory has been completed damaged in the fire which was declared a ‘Category 3’ blaze and engulfed several sections of the building.
