FAISALABAD: Six people were burnt to death in a tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday near Dharam Kot Stop in Gojra. The accident involved a van and a mini-truck, and the fire broke out soon after the collision.
According to initial reports gathered by MM News, the Hiace Van was en route to Faisalabad from Saghira Sea Road Gojra, and there were 25 people on board at the time of the incident.
The dead bodies of all six victims are being shifted to THQ Gujra. Five other passengers were injured and have been shifted to a hospital, where their condition is said to be out of danger.
On receiving the information, local SHO and patrolling police post 279, Rescue 1122 were dispatched to the scene of the accident to carry out rescue operations.
Two people were identified on the spot, but the remaining individuals have yet to be identified. The process of identifying the other victims is currently ongoing.
The bodies and the injured were immediately shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, while the rescue operation was underway. Rescue officials expressed fears that the death toll might increase as the search for survivors continues.
Meanwhile, caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Raza Naqvi expressed deep sorrow and regret over the loss of precious human lives due to the fire in the van after the traffic accident near Dharamkot in Gojra. Naqvi has summoned a report from Commissioner Faisalabad and RPO Faisalabad, and has also ordered that legal action should be taken against the negligent driver.
