Cricket coach Munawar Siddiqui, a professional cricket coach in Karachi, believes that the Pakistani cricketers are self-made and because of the struggles they face when competing at the grassroots level makes them unique.
Cricket coach Munawar Siddiqui has trained hundreds of youngsters from different parts of Karachi. He particularly focuses on grassroots level.
Talking about talent level in the metropolis, Mr Siddiqui said that Karachi can easily have four cricket teams.
In an exclusive interview with MM News, Mr Siddiqui said that it is important for a coach to understand a player’s mind and emotions before going into technical details with him.
“I work on physical fitness first,” the cricket coach said “Physical fitness is what makes you a successful player, but it cannot be done in few days,” stressing the lengthy physical training which is a key to any sportsman’s success.
Mr Siddiqui said that physical fitness is the biggest problem of cricket teams. “Fitness isn’t just important in sports, you have to be fit to have a good life,” he added.
In his academy, Mr Siddiqui says after working on physical fitness, we try to recognize the potential of youngsters and then train them accordingly.
Mr Siddiqui said that Pakistan’s talent is unmatched because majority of our players are self-made cricketers. They are self-taught, on streets while playing grass-roots cricket.
He encouraged kids and teenagers to watch PSL, saying that it’s a high-quality league which gives players a chance to reach the national cricket team.
According to Munawar Siddiqui, players from all over Karachi come to train in his academy, even he gets request from other cities such as Peshawar.
Munawar Siddiqui trains youngsters at Ayesha Manzil in FB Area Block 10 in Karachi twice a week.
