Youngsters and children are generally very interested in the sport of wrestling, especially the international level wrestling competitions are very popular in Pakistan. Today we have invited Pakistani wrestler (Talha Ali) in our program Sports Time, who has not only participated in wrestling competition in the country but also abroad and has earned a good name for Pakistan.
Talha Ali is expert in mixed martial arts and he is a professional wrestler who has given himself the title of Iron Man in wrestling. Talha Ali has recently won a championship in Nepal and had previously won a title in India.
MM News: Tell us about the last title you won in Nepal?
Talha Ali: It was a great experience, I beat a Nepali wrestler in the final, he beat me a lot in the beginning of the game but when I realized he was dominating me, I locked him, and thus he was defeated.
MM News: You started in mixed martial arts, tell us about that?
Talha Ali: I belong to Lyari, my maternal grandfather was a boxer who inspired me to learn martial arts. I won my first black belt in 2012 and since then I have been winning this title continuously and then I switched to wrestling.
MM News: Who do you think is the best wrestler? Who makes you think there will never be another wrestler like him?
Talha Ali: I think the best wrestler is Undertaker, I enjoy watching him compete.
MM News: Which local and international wrestling competition do you like the most?
Talha Ali: The Royal Rumble is my favorite.
MM News: What steps do you think need to be taken for the development of the sport of wrestling in Pakistan?
Talha Ali: If you see the sport of wrestling is slowly but advancing in Pakistan, when international wrestlers are coming to your country and your wrestler is also going out and playing, it means that the sport of wrestling is progressing in the country. But there are things where we become bound. We need support in terms of money, the government should take steps in this regard.
MM News: What do you think should be introduced for the promotion of wrestling in Pakistan?
Talha Ali: I think sponsors are the most important. We don’t get sponsors in any sport in our country except cricket, that’s why we don’t see progress in other sports. It is a tragedy that we have also destroyed hockey due to lack of sponsors.
MM News: Do you think Pakistani wrestlers can defeat an international player?
Talha Ali: There is a lot of talent in Pakistan, there are very good wrestlers in the country who can defeat any international player.
