ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has convened consultative meeting to discuss the eligibility of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf Imran Khan for contesting NA-45 by-election.
According to the details, the regional Election Commissioner Kurram has sought opinion from Election Commission of Pakistan about whether or not Imran Khan was eligible to contest the election of NA 45 Karam.
Acting on this, the ECP is reported to have decided to convene a meeting of legal experts on Monday to reach a conclusive opinion on the matter.
The Election Commission, it may be recalled, had announced to hold by-elections in Kurram NA-45 on October 30, for which Imran Khan had also filed his nomination papers.
It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan has already challenged the ECP verdict of disqualifying him in Islamabad High Court, hearing of which has been fixed for Monday. He had prayed to declare the ECP verdict of disqualifying him in Toshakhana reference as null and void.
