KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered PEMRA to immediately restore the broadcasting of ARY News.
According to the details, a hearing was held in the Sindh High Court on the appeal of Pemra against the order of injunction on ARY News.
The court has ordered PEMRA to restore the broadcasting of ARY News immediately. The court said that if any cable operators do not implement the decision, Chairman PEMRA should take action against it.
Justice Aqeel Abbasi said that paperwork on behalf of Pemra is not enough, Chairman PEMRA should act according to rules, and court orders. The court remarked that PEMRA has wide powers, should they be exercised, and how cable operators can stop broadcasting if PEMRA officers call, it ruled.
The lawyer of PEMRA requested the court to suspend the notice of contempt of court proceedings against Chairman PEMRA and at least grant him immunity from total attendance.
On which lawyer Ian Memon said that if Chairman PEMRA implements the decision, he will withdraw the contempt petition.
