ISLAMABAD: Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Members National Assembly (MNAs) on June 6, to confirm their resignations.
The spokesperson of The National Assembly said on Monday that letters have been sent to the MNAs by the assembly secretariat. He said that the number of MNAs who have submitted resignations is 131.
The spokesperson further said that the process of confirmation of resignations would continue till Friday, June 10 and on a daily basis 30 MNAs would meet the Speaker of the National Assembly and 5 minutes were allotted for each member.
He said that the Speaker of the National Assembly had issued a letter to the resigning members exercising the delegated powers under Rule 43 (2) (b) of the Rules and Regulations of the National Assembly.
It may be recalled that after the ousting of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in April, PTI’s MNAs had submitted their resignations to the then-acting speaker Qasim Khan Suri but he did not send it to Election Commission.
After assuming the speakership Raja Pervez Ashraf de-sealed the resignations and said that he would confirm them before sending them to ECP.
