PESHAWAR: Unknown assailants opened fired and killed two Sikhs early Sunday morning in Bata Tal bazaar of Sarband area in Peshawar.
The two assailants were riding a motorcycle when they opened fire on the shopkeepers selling spices in the bazaar. The victims died on the spot. The deceased were identified as Saljeet Singh (42) and Ranjeet Singh (38).
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the killing of two members of the Sikh community in Peshawar. He directed the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure the immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits.
He also urged the chief minister to ensure steps for the protection of the lives and properties of the citizens, particularly of the non-Muslims.
The prime minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved families of the deceased. He observed that enmity with Pakistan was the reason behind this act of terrorism and resolved to eliminate enemies of the country. He also assured the bereaved families of the complete support of the federal government.

The chief minister took notice of the incident and directed the police chief to arrest the culprits involved in the incident as soon as possible. He termed the incident a conspiracy against interfaith harmony and said that justice will be provided to the affected Sikh community.
