Islamabad: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that PM Imran Khan is using his energy to create a crisis in the country and he will be held accountable for what he is doing to sabotage the situation.
Addressing a Press Conference, he explained his statement “beggars can not be chooser”, saying no nation can be free until it achieves financial autonomy. “If a country is economically dependent then its political freedom becomes irrelevant, sovereignty and independence cannot happen without self-reliance,” he added.
He said that unfortunately, Pakistan is not economically independent, our country is surviving on loans from foreign agencies.
The former CM Punjab added that this is not the first time that he voiced his opinion regarding this fact, but he has had the same opinion for decades.
He added that Prime Minster used to claim that he would “commit suicide” rather than go to the IMF, then why did not he do so when his government asked the IMF to bail them out of the financial crisis.
The Opposition leader clarified that his statement has in a generalized sense but the PTI government tried to use it in a twisted manner.
He said that the PM used to claim that he has good relationships with Europe, America, and India, what good came out of his ‘good relations’? Pakistan experienced record inflation took record loans and the Rupee depreciated at a record rate.
The people of Pakistan saw a severe, flour crisis, sugar crisis, and gas shortage like never before, he maintained.
“If we want to live as a free state, then we will have to break the begging bowl,” he added.
He further expressed that nations have reached glory again with sheer hard work, along with quoting examples of Japan and Germany. He also pointed out that instead of facing the defeat Imran Khan has been using his energy to sabotage the situation and he will answer for it.
In his address, the PMLN leader also requested the legal institutions to make sure that the members get to practice their right to vote peacefully tomorrow in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision.
