LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi has won the toss and decided to bat first against Quetta Gladiators in the 22nd match of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) seventh edition at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Both teams are tied with six points each after playing seven matches but Gladiators holds a slight advantage with a better net run rate (NRR).
Zalmi started their campaign strongly against the Gladiators chasing 191 thanks to the heroics of Shoaib Malik and Hussain Talat, but later lost their touch as the tournament progressed.
Peshawar has failed to show any consistency with the bowl or bat and has continuously changed their playing eleven throughout the tournament failing to find the right combination.
On the other hand, Gladiators have gained momentum ever since Jason Roy joined their team. Gladiators have chased two back to back 200 plus targets with Roy leading from the front and notable contributions from Sarfaraz Ahmed, Umar Akmal and Iftikhar Ahmed showing the confidence in their dugout.
They lost their last match to Lahore Qalandars but the players are now stepping up and the combination is quite good too. The winner of today’s encounter will need only one more win to qualify for the playoffs.
