The Batman director Matt Reeves has finally talked about the makeup choice of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.
When the first trailer for The Batman debuted last year in August, the actor was seen in some serious emo-eyeliner. Now, during a recent interview, Matt Reeves said, “You can’t wear a cowl and not wear that. All of the Batmen wear that. I just loved the idea of taking off [the mask] and under that, there’s the sweating and the dripping and the whole theatricality of becoming this character.”
Reeves also talked about the initial backlash that hit social media after Robert Pattinson was announced as his Bruce Wayne in The Batman. “There has been no actor, when his announcement that he was going to be playing Batman in one of the feature films was announced, that has not received a backlash,” Matt said.
He shared, “The people who were excited, I knew it was because they knew Rob’s work post-‘Twilight.’ The people who weren’t excited, I knew it was because they didn’t know Rob’s work post-‘Twilight.”

‘The Batman’ movie is said to be a film of two hours and 55 minutes. As such, it’s the longest-running time of any solo Batman pic and one of the longest for a theatrical superhero movie, behind rival Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which ran three hours and one minute on its way to becoming the No. 2 top-grossing film of all time at the global box office, not adjusted for inflation. The movie will open in theaters nationwide on March 4.
