ISLAMABAD: The coronavirus situation continues to worsen across Pakistan as the nation reported over four thousand cases in a single day on Monday.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan reported 4,340 cases and seven deaths in the previous 24-hour period. The national tally of coronavirus cases has reached 1,328,487 while the death toll stands at 29,019.
The positivity ratio has risen to 8.71%, while the number of active has surged to 35,982 after the recent increase in cases. There were 49,809 tests conducted in the previous day leading to new cases.
There are 781 people who still remain in critical condition including 29 new patients in the previous day. Overall 1,263,486 people have recovered from the virus, including 302 in the past day.
Sindh has recorded the highest number of cases and remains the worst affected region. The province has recorded 502,250 cases and 7,697 deaths while there are 22,678 active cases.
Punjab has recorded 453,392 cases and 13,090 deaths, while the number of active cases in the province remains at 9,869. Islamabad has recorded 111,376 cases and 969 deaths while there are 2,376 active cases in the federal capital.
The number of cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands at 182,311 and 5,960 deaths, while Balochistan has recorded 33,705 cases and 367 deaths. Gilgit Baltistan had recorded 10,445 cases and 187 deaths while Azad Kashmir has recorded 34,758 cases and 749 deaths.
