KARACHI: The Security and Anti-Theft Cell of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) have once again geared up for a false operation against water theft.
The officials conducted a bogus operation against closed wells located near the SITE Super Highway to hoodwink the authorities and protect those involved in the water threat.
According to the documents obtained by MM News correspondent, the Water Board’s security cell officers carried out an operation on the setup of Shakeel Mahar, Ajmal Khan, Abdul Wahid alias Waheed, and Afzal Khan on the SITE Super Highway.
The case was not registered even after a huge amount was spent on the demonstration. Following media reports, the Water Board’s Security and Anti-Theft Cell is now preparing for another similar operation.
According to sources, Water Board’s Security and Anti-Theft Cell officers are preparing to carry out a fake operation on the closed wells of Sprint Water Supply at Lassi Goth within the limits of SITE Super Highway after November 29. The officers will then file a formal case and provide misleading information to the media.
It may be recalled that Rashid Siddiqui, former in-charge of Anti-Theft Cell, had earlier conducted an operation at Lassi Goth and closed the brackish water well of Sprint Water Supplier and lodged an FIR on the basis of alleged misinformation. The FIR was later classified.
Preparations are now being made to provide protection to the real water thieves by operating again in the closed space. Sources said that the security officers of Water Board along with Major (retd) Majeed had conducted an operation on Nov 25 near Ayub Goth to extorting money.
After local people and public representatives including MNA Saif-ur-Rehman, PPP leaders Lala Abdul Rehman and Shahid Khan arrived at the scene, the water board officials were forced to flee.
A case has not been registered yet despite the passage of over four days. Sources revealed that the hydrant contractor Bilal alias Bunty pressurized to stop the officers. The suspects are involved in working on brackish water lines in SITE Super Highway Phase I and II, Ayub Goth, Federal B Area Block 22, and North Karachi Industrial Area.
