KARACHI: In view of the security threats, the Sindh government on Monday issued a notification announcing a ban on pillion riding throughout the province on the eve of Rabiul Awwal 12 (October 19).
“In the backdrop of numerous threat alerts of disruption of law and order during various events of Rabi ul Awal there is a need for imposing ban under Section 144 Cr.PC on pillion riding for one day on 12th Rabi ul Awal 1443 Hijri i.e October 19, 2021,” the notification read.
The ban, however, will not be applicable to women, children under the age of 12, elderly citizens, journalists, law enforcement agencies’ personnel in uniform as well as medics, firefighters and employees of rescue services.
The moon for the holy month of Rabiul Awwal had been sighted in Pakistan on October 7, with Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) falling on October 19.

PM announces Rehmatul-Lil-Aalamin Authority ‘to portray true image of Islam’
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday announced the establishment of a Rehmatul-Lil-Aalamin Authority, “which would portray before the world a true image of Islam besides carrying out research on Seeratun Nabi (SAWW)”.
Addressing the Ashra-e-Rehmatullil-Aalamin (SAWW) conference in Islamabad, the premier said the proposed body would comprise Islamic scholars of international repute who would help acquaint the children and elders about the teachings of Holy Prophet (SAWW).
The premier also announced that he would be the patron-in-chief of the newly proposed body, which would be headed by a chairman and supervised by an international advisory board.
