ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the start of ten-day celebrations for the auspicious month of Rabi-ul-Awwal today (Sunday).

In a tweet, the prime minister said he will make a very special announcement for the youth on the occasion. “I will inaugurate the start of our celebrations for the month of Rabi ul Awal with a very special announcement especially for our youth.”

In a meeting with members of national and provincial assemblies and senators earlier on Saturday, the prime minister directed party members and workers to celebrate the first week of Rabi ul Awal in their constituencies in a befitting manner.

He also urged the legislators to hold events in their respective constituencies about the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had decided, at its core committee meeting to observe ‘Ashra-e-Rehmatal-lil-Alameen’ across the country from today to 13th of Rabi-ul-Awwal with great religious zeal and fervour.

The prime minister will also address Seerat Conference in Islamabad today, which will be telecast live in all the districts through big screens. District organisations of PTI across Pakistan will arrange ceremonies and the premier’s address will be telecast on big screens.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has also announced to celebrate Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen (PBUH) from 1st to 12th Rabiul Awwal across Punjab.

During the period, a number of programmes and conferences will be held including the central Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen Conference, International Mashaikh Ulema Conference and Milad-e-Mustafa.

Similarly, Naatia mushaira, Naat competition and calligraphic exhibitions will also be held at provincial level. Special meals will be served to the inmates of old homes, orphanages, hospitals and shelter homes.

Parliamentarians will attend ceremonies in their districts. A special documentary will be made and officials of law-enforcement agencies will be given medals, attributed to Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen, for showing exemplary performance.

CM Buzdar said as many as 10,574 Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen scholarships of Rs27.38 crore had been awarded to the needy students across Punjab, adding that 677 PEEF scholarships would also be given under the programme.

He said a total of 29,142 Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen scholarships of Rs83.40 crore will be given this year. Furthermore, ‘Seerat Chairs’ have been established in Bahauddin Zakariya University, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Ghazi University DG Khan, GCU Faisalabad, University of Chakwal and Okara University to carry out research
