DUBAI: President Dr Arif Alvi on Saturday asserted that Pakistan was offering promising business opportunities to foreign investors through one-window operations in sectors of innovation and technology.
The President, who is on an official visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE), expressed these views in a meeting with heads of leading investment and technology firms in Dubai.
President Alvi pointed out that Pakistan was focusing on the digital empowerment of people to enable them to benefit from the economic advancements of the information technology sector.
He said the government was making efforts to strengthen and develop the IT sector to cope with the challenges of the fourth revolution of information technology. Alvi expressed satisfaction that due to the efforts of the government, the IT exports last year witnessed a surge of 50%.
The President said the one-window facility under Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) was aimed at encouraging and facilitating the foreign investors to expand their information technology footprint in Pakistan.
He said the government has set up the STZA with a mandate to provide world-class digital and physical infrastructure across the country and put Pakistan on global technology radar. Alvo alsi invited the companies to invest in Pakistan’s diverse sectors particularly in e-business.
The President further said Pakistan was a country with a 200 million population and a huge youth bulge, expressing confidence that the country was making tremendous progress in emerging sectors.
Dr Alvi said the government was working with stakeholders and outstanding policies were being made to encourage foreigners to invest their capital in Pakistan. He stressed the importance of human development, with a specific focus on technology and database.
The president later witnessed the signing of three MoUs between Pakistan’s Special Technology Zones Authority with Mastercard, Galaxy racer (E-sports) and Shorooq Partners VC Funds.
President inaugurates Roshan Apna Ghar Scheme in Dubai

President Dr Arif Alvi, while addressing an inauguration ceremony of Roshan Apna Ghar Scheme in Dubai, asserted that a prosperous Pakistan was emerging in the global arena and urged overseas Pakistanis to benefit from the secure investment policies of the country.
The president said Pakistan as the fifth most populated country of the world had set its targets high to attain development in various fields. He said not only resources but the vision and right policies greatly contributed to the development of a nation.
The president said the Pakistani nation had emerged as a resilient nation after overcoming big challenges, such as terrorism and recently the coronavirus pandemic.
