ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected on Wednesday the bail pleas of Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adamjee, the parents of main suspect Zahir Jaffer, in the Noor Mukadam murder case.
IHC’s Justice Aamer Farooq delivered the brief verdict. The court also ordered the trial court to complete the trial within eight weeks.
Zakir and Ismat had filed bail petitions in the Noor Mukadam murder case stating that they had nothing to do with Noor’s murder. The police challan presented in court said that if Zahir’s parents had informed the police in time, Noor’s life could have been saved.
The trial court is scheduled to indict Zahir Jaffer, his parents and others accused in Noor Mukadam’s murder case on October 6.
The court will frame charges against 12 suspects that include prime suspect Zahir Zakir Jaffer, his parents Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, three domestic help Iftikhar, Jan Muhammad and Jameel and six Therapy Works employees including Tahir Zahoor, Amjad, Dilip Kumar, Abdul Haq, Wamiq and Samar Abbas.
On July 24, Police arrested Zahir’s parents and their servants over allegations of hiding evidence and being complicit in the crime. They were made a part of the investigation in the murder case based on former ambassador’s statement.
Zahir Jaffer is the prime suspect in Noor Mukadam’s murder case. The grisly murder, in which Mukadam was beheaded, took place on July 20 in Islamabad’s F-7 area.
The Islamabad police arrested suspect Zahir Jaffer on the night of July 20 from his house where, according to Noor’s parents, he killed her with a sharp instrument and severed her head.
