ISLAMABAD: Pakistan continued to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan as the country faces shortages after the Taliban takeover to avert a crisis.
According to Foreign Office, a C-130 carrying relief goods comprising foods items and medicines arrived in Mazar-e-Sharif on Sunday. It said this is the fourth such consignment in as many days manifesting Pakistan’s commitment to provide relief assistance to Afghan brothers and sisters.
“These goods were delivered by our Consul General to Governor Bulkh Maulvi Qudratullah,” Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmed Khan said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, World Food Program is also continuing flight from Islamabad to Kabul. The third consignment of relief goods from government of Pakistan reached Afghanistan’s Khost city on Saturday, which was received by local Afghan authorities. The relief goods include food and medicines including cooking oil, flour and life-saving drugs.
Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kabul Mansoor Ahmad Khan in a tweet said Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan is continuing effectively.
Kabul airport was severely damaged during a chaotic evacuation of over 120,000 people that ended with the withdrawal of US forces on August 30. The Taliban have been scrambling to get it operational again with Qatari technical assistance.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to extend help to the people of Afghanistan despite limited resources.
In a statement, he said Pakistan wants peace and prosperity in the neighbouring country. “We are also trying to send them the relief goods to avert any crisis,” he added.
The minister further said that a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan wasn’t in the interest of the Afghan people, the region or the world.
