LAHORE: Five incidents of rape cases have been reported in the Punjab capital during the last 24 hours.
According to the police, all cases of rape have been recorded at different police stations across the city. A mother of four children was allegedly raped in the Bhagatpura area. In another incident, a man from the Johar Town area named Maqbool allegedly raped his 16-year-old stepdaughter. The case was lodged by his wife who is also the mother of the victim.
In another horrific incident, a 10-year-old was raped by an unidentified man in Manawan. In the Lari Ada area, a 17-year-old teenager was raped after being promised a job by an unidentified man. Moreover, the Nawankot police arrested a 15-year-old boy for trying to rape a seven-year-old girl on Church Road.

Pakistan is the sixth most dangerous country in the world for women, according to the Thomson Reuters Foundation. The Karachi-based organisation War Against Rape estimated that less than 3 percent of rape cases lead to convictions. A report of 2020 from the ‘Gulf News’ states: “An alarming increase has been observed in cases of crime/ violence against women and children in Pakistan during the first quarter of 2020.
