GWALIOR: A nine-year-old girl from India’s Madhya Pradesh did an unusual activity by playing the synthesizer while undergoing brain surgery at the hospital.
A nine-year-old Soumya had a brain tumour and she went to the hospital to get removed that tumor in her brain. Surprisingly, the girl was awake during her surgery. While doctors removed the tumour, Soumya was awake and played the synthesizer instead.
When Soumya was brought to the hospital by her parents for treatment, doctors said that it would be difficult to perform major surgery on her as there was a possibility of damage to the other nerves of her brain. Hence, doctors decided that her surgery will be done in an ‘Awake Craniotomy’ method.

The nine-year-old girl enjoys playing the synthesizer, she was suggested by the doctors to play the musical keyboard during the surgery. She was given local anesthesia only in the part of her head where the surgery was performed.
The surgery lasted for about two hours and the tumor was successfully removed. She was kept under observation for some time and later discharged from the hospital in evening.
