Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directional ‘Heeramandi’ recently started streaming on Netflix.

3) Bombay Begums

Plot. Set in contemporary urban India, five women, across generations, wrestle with desire, ethics, personal crises, and vulnerabilities to own their ambition. Rani is the CEO of a bank who takes great effort to hide the bank’s problems. Fatima, who works under Rani, does everything possible to please her husband.

4) A Suitable Boy

A Suitable Boy is set in a newly post-independence, post-partition India. The novel follows four families for 18 months, and centres on Mrs. Rupa Mehra’s efforts to arrange the marriage of her younger daughter, Lata, to a “suitable boy”.
