MANILA: At least 49 people are reported dead and dozens missing as a result of flash flood and landslides in the Philippine, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council revealed on Sunday.
The Council said sixteen people were injured, while 22 remain missing, it added.
Of the 49 deaths, 33 still need to be validated. Majority of the deaths and injuries were reported in Northern Mindanao (Region 10) at 25 and 14, respectively.
Overall, 141,115 families or 553,983 individuals were affected by the disaster. About 14,223 families or 51,456 individuals were displaced from their residences.
Damage to infrastructure and agriculture was pegged ₱1.13 billion and ₱245 million, respectively. Relief funds amounting to ₱47.9 million were released to the victims.
The province of Misamis Occidental in Northern Mindanao and seven affected cities and municipalities remain under a state of calamity.
