GILGIT BALTISTAN: Gilgit Baltistan health department official Dr Shah Ramzan has confirmed that overall 45 coronavirus patients have recovered, while only one COVID-19 case was reported in Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday.
According to Dr Shah Ramzan, the region has witnessed a huge decline in COVID-19 cases as only 166 patients were admitted in different hospitals of the territory.
He said “Only one patient has tested positive for the disease in GB today.” He said the major decline happened in COVID-19 cases due to a strict lockdown and people’s social distancing in the region.
Social distancing is a public health method that aims to stop the spread of COVID-19. Dr Shah Ramzan said social distancing includes avoiding travel, public transportation, cancelling large public gatherings and staying home rather than going out.
According to a data provided by the GB health officials, the overall cases in the region have reached to 214 after the new case reported today, with 45 recoveries and 3 deaths.
Earlier, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan had said that they have a capacity to conduct 100 COVID-19 tests in a day and had conducted tests of 1000 suspected patients till date.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan has risen to 4,007 on Tuesday after new cases were reported in the country.
According to government data, 2,004 coronavirus cases were registered in Punjab, 986 in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 500, Balochistan 204, Gilgit-Baltistan 214, Islamabad 83 and Azad Kashmir 16.
