At least four army personnel were martyred and over 16 others injured in two terrorist attacks in Dera Ismail Khan in the wee hours of Tuesday.Â
The DI Khan administration imposed an emergency in the city’s hospitals as casualties were feared to increase.Â
The first attack targeted the Daraban police station in Dera Ismail Khan, resulting in the martyrdom of three soldiers and leaving approximately 16 others injured.Â
The assailants struck the main gate of the police station with an explosive-laden car around 3am, causing widespread panic and chaos.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Havaldar Riyasat and Sepoy Zulfiqar. The attack, marked by both gunfire and a powerful explosion, triggered a swift response from the police and security forces who rushed towards the police station, and an operation ensued.Â
The schools and colleges in Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan have been closed, and the examinations scheduled for today postponed.
Later, the terrorists attacked Kulachi College in the area. In retaliation, the security forces managed to kill three terrorists, while one official was also martyred in the exchange of fire.
