At least 300 stalls set up at Islamabad’s Sunday Bazaar in Sector H-9 were gutted on Wednesday. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
According to the spokesman of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, the Assistant Commissioner I-9 reached on the spot to oversee the situation.
The fire brigade was actively working to control the blaze, with three more fire engines dispatched to tackle the flames.
On the occasion, AC said that hectic efforts were underway to control the blaze and hoped fire brigade teams would extinguish the fire soon.
The government official reported that the fire started in the shoe and cloth section and quickly spread to other shops. The fire is being contained as quickly as possible.
Though no injuries have been confirmed as of yet, the rescuers claimed that the fire destroyed at least 300 wooden stalls.
This is not the first time such incident happened at Islamabad’s Sunday Bazaar in Sector H-9. In 2022, at least 150 stalls were burnt to ashes in a massive blaze.
According to media reports, the blaze reportedly engulfed makeshift shops near gate seven of the bazaar which sells second-hand clothing and carpets.
