BEIJING: Beijing police on Monday claimed to have arrested 29 people in six separate cases involving the production and sale of forged facial masks in different cities of China.
Facial masks have been in sharp supply in several Chinese cities since the novel coronavirus outbreak. According to Chinese authorities, police busted two inter-provincial gangs and confiscated more than 170,000 counterfeit masks from their possession.
Likewise, authorities brought a case into the public that some individuals sell low-quality facial masks on the messaging app WeChat.
Chinese officials further said they would crackdown on the manufacturing and sale of bootleg medical materials, added that the move would assist the battle against the epidemic and safeguard people.
