’28 Years Later’ adds Aaron Taylor-Johnson to its cast

Aaron Taylor-Johnson along with Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes has been tapped for ’28 Years Later’.

The continuation of the “28 Days Later” franchise will be released in theaters globally by Sony Pictures. “28 Days Later” was released in 2002 and starred Cillian Murphy, then largely unknown. Directed by Boyle, a sequel, “28 Weeks Later,” was released in 2007.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps for the new screenplay, written by Garland. It will be part of an upcoming trilogy, for which Nia DaCosta is in talks to direct the second film.

Boyle and Garland are producing, as are original producers Andrew Macdonald and Peter Rice. Bernie Bellew is also producing. Murphy is also returning as an executive producer and is not currently attached to Star.

Comer earned an Emmy for her work as Villanelle on “Killing Eve.” She will next be seen on the big screen in “The Bikeriders,” opposite Austin Butler and Tom Hardy.

“Bullet Train” and “Nocturnal Animals” star Taylor-Johnson has a trio of hyped-up movies premiering this year: “The Fall Guy,” “Kraven the Hunter” and “Nosferatu.”

Meanwhile, Fiennes was most recently seen in Wes Anderson’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More” and is next set to star in “The Return” and “Conclave.”
