KARACHI: The railway administration could not even ensure the maintenance of its rolling stock. Due to negligence, 26 trains lost their engines and more than 93 coaches became out of order in one month.
The railway administration’s inattention to the maintenance of infrastructure rolling stock and lack of departmental coordination has further affected the schedule of the trains for months.
According to sources, the rate of timely transportation was recorded at only 57%. Out of 1,718 passenger coaches in the railways, 38.3% of 658 coaches have broken down.
In November 1,519 hours of train, operation were lost due to track, coach and locomotive malfunctions and accidents.
During November, 328 hours were lost due to railway track malfunction, while 69 hours were lost at other gates including Mendovan Mend Level Crossings.

During the journey, 67 hours were lost due to the failure of locomotives and 52 hours due to the failure of coaches.
131 hours were lost due to computer-based interlocking signal system, 95 hours were lost due to signal failure, 67 hours at crossings, 81 hours due to accidents, 48 hours train operation was affected due to weather conditions and fog.
