Since the beginning of this year, the number of deaths due to resistance during robberies in Karachi has reached 19, while the number of such deaths during Ramadan has risen to 5, as reported by national media.
According to a report citing sources, 19 people have been killed in Karachi this year so far for resisting robberies, and with the beginning of Ramadan, incidents of robbery and street crimes have also increased.
Karachi police states that robbers have killed 5 citizens in the past 5 days during robbery attempts. The police stated that a security guard named Sajid was killed by robbers’ gunfire in PECHS, while yesterday, two citizens, Babar and Waseem, were shot dead by robbers in Sohrab Goth and Quaidabad.
In Quaidabad, a robber who tried to escape after killing a citizen named Babar was beaten to death by locals. According to the police, on March 4, a citizen named Imran was shot dead by robbers under the Quaidabad Flyover. The victim was a cashier at a textile company and was carrying cash from a bank.
Meanwhile, on March 2, a shopkeeper was shot dead by robbers in Scheme 33, Ghazi Goth. Following this, the police engaged in an encounter and arrested one of the robbers in an injured condition.
