Balochistan Levies Force’s sixteen personnel from Kohlu District have been dismissed from service for remaining absent from their designated posts in Dukki District.
According to a notification of termination, the terminated officials were all of Sepoy rank, and they had been transferred to the neighboring Dukki District but failed to report to duty.
The notification further mentioned that their absence from the assigned postings led to their dismissal from service.
Dukki, a district in Balochistan, has 43,059 households and a population of 205,044, based on the 2023 census. The district is a major hub for coal mining, with 1,200 coal mines employing thousands of workers.
Pashto is the predominant language spoken by 93.27% of the population, followed by Balochi (4.85%) and Brahui (0.69%).
Due to some unrest and terror attacks from banned organizations in the area, a rally under “Duki Bachao Tehreek” highlighted local solidarity with Pakistan’s armed forces and security agencies on November 24.
Previously, on October 20, coal miners protested deteriorating law and order by halting coal supplies after a deadly attack on workers on October 11, 2024.
On October 11, terrorists attacked coal mines in Duki, killing 20 Pashtun miners and injuring eight. The attackers used drones, rocket launchers, and grenades, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Among the victims, two workers were from Afghanistan, three from Pishin, one from Kuchlak, four were from Qila Saifullah, four from Zhob, and one from Loralai.
This terrorist attack in Duki, Balochistan, not only claimed the lives of 20 coal miners but also resulted in the martyrdom of a civilian security official, Ajmal.
