LARKANA: The 13th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is being observed today by party leaders and supporters across the country.
The focal person of Larkana Administration said that all the arrangements have been completed for following coronavirus related safety precautions for holding events in connection with the anniversary. Strict security measures have also been taken to avert any untoward incident.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has finalised arrangements the death anniversary of the assassinated in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto. PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other party leaders will attend a public gathering outside the mausoleum of the Bhutto family in the native village.
The public gathering will be addressed by the Bilawal while Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and central leaders of PPP will also address the crowds.
Bilawal has also invited Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders to attend the gathering. PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has arrived at Naudero House and will be attending the event.
PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has excused himself from attending the political gathering but will be sending a five-member delegation of senior JUI-F leaders to represent him. Separate camps have been set-up to accommodate the leaders and workers from all the four provinces, Gilgit-Biltistan (GB), Northern areas and Azad Kashmir.
Reception camps have also been established. A documentary depicting life and achievements of Benazir Bhutto will also be shown on the occasion. A mushaira has also been scheduled in front of the mausoleum of Benazir Bhutto. The caravans of PPP workers have started reaching Larkana, Naudero and Garhi Khuda Bux to attend the event.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Larkana and SSP Larkana told media men that special security and traffic arrangement will be made on the occasion. SSP Larkana said over 8,000 police personnel, including women police, traffic police, special police commandos and three hundred personnel of Shahbaz Rangers will also be deployed to ensure the law and order on the occasion.
He said senior rank officers will supervise and monitor the activities in Garhi Khuda Bux and Naudero vicinity. An aerial surveillance at the surrounding areas will be carried out to monitor activities while CCTV cameras will be installed at the different locations of the venue.
On the occasion, a bomb disposal squad, bomb detectors, scanning machines, jammers, sniffer dogs, watchtowers, 60 walk-through gates with police vehicles will be set up for security purposes.
All activities will be monitored by the high officials of Sindh police and concerned officials. DC Larkana said medical camps would be established and fire brigades will be deployed at the various locations.
