LASBELA: At least 12 people have died, and more than 30 are injured after a bus carrying pilgrims returning from Iran plunged into a ditch on the Makran Coastal Highway.
Lyari Station House Officer Qadir said that the accident was caused by brake failure.
According to police, the accident occurred near Buzi Top on the highway. The bus, which was carrying pilgrims back from Iran, is believed to have veered off the road and plunged into a ravine due to brake failure caused by excessive speed.
The bus was traveling from Iran to Punjab, and the injured and deceased have been transported to nearby hospitals.
Police officials confirmed that the pilgrims were from Lahore and Gujranwala in Punjab. A rescue operation is currently underway, involving police, Levies, and other agencies, to provide medical assistance to the victims.
