Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have arrested 10 Pakistanis, including 5 women, for begging, as reported by national media on Thursday.
According to a report by Geo News citing sources in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), UAE officials have informed Pakistani authorities about the matter. Three women from Vehari, Punjab—Amina Bibi, Kausar Bibi, and Farzana Bibi—along with Jamila Bibi and Zubaida Bibi from Lahore, were arrested during various operations while begging in the UAE.
They have been sent to jail and are being prepared for deportation to Pakistan. Similarly, in related actions, Muhammad Zakariya from Dera Ghazi Khan, Waseem Haider from Bahawalnagar, Muhammad Usman from Lahore, Ejaz Khan from Charsadda, and Abdullah from Peshawar were also arrested for begging.
Officials stated that emergency passports have been prepared for their repatriation to Pakistan, where they will be arrested upon arrival and legal action will be taken against them.
Pakistani beggars operating in foreign countries, such as the UAE, are not only engaging in illegal activities but also tarnishing Pakistan’s reputation on the international stage. Their actions portray Pakistan as a country struggling with poverty and lawlessness, leading to negative perceptions among foreign governments and citizens.
