Zimbabwe has set a target of 206 runs for Pakistan to win, as the host team was dismissed for 205 runs in 40.2 overs, falling short of the 50-over mark.
After winning the toss, Pakistan invited Zimbabwe to bat first. The host team began their innings and lost their first wicket at a total score of 40, with opener and wicketkeeper-batter Joylord Gumbie being run out for 15 off 17 balls.
Zimbabwe lost their second wicket at a total of 58, with Dion Myers caught by Haseebullah Khan off Salman Ali Aga’s delivery after scoring 8 runs. The third wicket fell at 67 when captain Craig Ervine was dismissed by Haris Rauf.
They lost their fourth wicket at a total of 83 when opener batter Tadiwanashe Marumani was dismissed after making 29 off 41 balls. The fifth player to go back to the pavilion was Sean Williams, who scored 23 off 17 balls.
The falling of wickets continued as Zimbabwe lost their 6th wicket at a total of 124, their 7th at 125, the 8th and 9th at 187, and the last wicket at 205, with Brian Bennett dismissed for 20, Brandon Mavuta for 1, Sikandar Raza for 39, Blessing Muzarabani for 0, and Richard Ngarava for 48 runs.
Now, Pakistan has to chase a target of 206 runs at a run rate of 4.12 runs per over. This is an apparently manageable target, especially considering that the Pakistan Cricket Team performed well against Australia this month, securing a victory in the ODI series, though their performance in the T20 series was less than satisfactory.
