South Korean actor Song Jae-lim, who initially rose to fame as a model and gained recognition through K-dramas, was found dead in Seoul on Tuesday at the age of 39.

A friend, who had planned to meet Song for lunch that day, found his body in his residence, according to Seoul Seongdong police. A police representative shared with CNN that there were no indications of foul play, and a note was retrieved from the apartment.

“Our preliminary findings show no signs of criminal involvement,” police told CNN. “Since the family opted against an autopsy, we will move forward by transferring the remains to the family’s care.” Police further mentioned that they would continue with customary procedures to clarify the cause of death.

Born in 1985, Song began his career in entertainment with the 2009 film Actresses. He achieved widespread popularity for his role as a royal guard in the 2012 historical series Moon Embracing the Sun and became even more prominent after his appearance on the reality show We Got Married.

His last role was in the musical La Rose De Versailles, which concluded in October. The most recent posts on Song’s Instagram, two selfies from January, have received over 61,000 likes, though comments on his account remain disabled. Following news of his passing, tributes from South Korean celebrities flooded in.
